2023-05-25

Lionesa Business Hub registers 100% of the occupied area and creates more than 1000 new jobs. Livraria Lello exceeds pre-pandemic numbers with over 1.2 million visitors.

In the year in which it officially presented itself as a Group and in which Lionesa Business Hub (LBH) celebrated two decades, Lionesa Group, which owns the assets of Livraria Lello and Balio brands, presents, for the first time, the results of its activity. The 2022 data is very optimistic regarding the numbers recorded and the realization of initiatives aimed at promoting the territory. The "Happiness Camp", the largest organizational happiness conference held in Europe, and the presentation of "Caminho da Arte", which connects Porto to Santiago de Compostela, through the world's longest art road, are two actions that marked 2022 and will continue to have repercussions.

The occupancy rate of Lionesa Business Hub (LBH) was 100% last year, and the business center located in Matosinhos, managed to create more than 1000 new jobs. Only with the entrance of FedEx in the new building, it was possible to secure about 800 jobs. Throughout 2022, the LBH made nearly 5 thousand square meters available for new companies and transformed its facilities into a campus, where work and leisure are connected through a central corridor adapted to the needs of companies in retaining young talent, replicating a university ecosystem to facilitate the transition. Also, the opening of establishments that bet on environmental and human sustainability, such as an organic bakery, Garfa, hairdresser, HairStore, and a spa-auto workshop, Atlantic Carwash, which does washes without the use of water, make LBH, more than a workspace, a living space. To increase the happiness indexes of the employees, a happiness framework was developed, Lionesa Happiness Pyramid, distinguished with the Sustainability award by Jornal Negócios newspaper in the human and social sustainability area.

The LBH was also awarded the Bronze Stevie Award and named Padrinho de Papas 2023 by Gas Porto.

Simultaneously, at Livraria Lello the results were equally positive, with the number of visitors exceeding the 1.2 million recorded in 2019. As for the number of book sales, this was also growing, with the world's most beautiful bookstore selling around 2,000 publications a day, from the Easter period.

In addition to these figures, iconic investments, such as the launch of the Pop Collection, with more than 40 titles of literary classics, were translated into several languages. The acquisition of unpublished love letters written by Bob Dylan during his adolescence. As well as the opening of Gemma Room, with a collection of books with history acquired from bookstores and libraries that were forced to close their doors.

Livraria Lello was also distinguished last year as the "World's Most Innovative Venue" by the Remarkable Venue Awards 2022 and has established important partnerships with brands such as the Antoine de Saint Exupéry Foundation, Christie's, Delta and Control.

"Caminho da Arte", a project promoted by Lionesa Associação de Arte, Cultura e Turismo, started its journey towards Santiago de Compostela.

With a team coordinated by Architect Paula Silva, the project that proposes to create the most beautiful art road in the world has taken shape, and a collaboration protocol has been signed that unites the Portuguese municipalities that the path runs through (Esposende, Maia, Matosinhos, Porto, Póvoa de Varzim, Valença, Viana do Castelo, Vila do Conde, and Vila Nova de Cerveira), the Regional Culture Directorate of the North, and Tourism Porto and North of Portugal.
