Protocol singning, on the 16th, at 11.00 am, in Viana do Castelo.

Caminho da Arte brings to Porto and Northern Portugal and Galicia a 261 km journey of contemporary art between Porto Cathedral and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela - hosting art works by national and international artists along the way. The project now takes a big step forward, with the signing of the protocol that unites the Portuguese municipalities that Caminho da Arte travels through, Regional Direction of Culture of the North, Tourism Porto and North of Portugal and Lionesa - Associação de Arte , Cultura e Turismo.

The session will take place on the 16th of January, at 11 am, at the headquarters of Turismo do Porto e Norte, in Castelo de Santiago da Barra, in Viana do Castelo.

Caminho da Arte, a project promoted by Lionesa - Associação de Arte, Cultura e Turismo, has the mission to connect Porto to Santiago de Compostela through contemporary art, and therefore create the longest and most visited art stage in the world, with more than 260km.

“There are exactly 261 kilometers of a path that aims to enhance the Ways of Saint James, adding to them the sense and significance of contemporary art in our 21st century, and, at the same time, boosting the Portuguese territory and the economic development of the project’s partner municipalities”, says Paula Silva, project coordinator.

“The Way of Saint James is above all a spiritual journey and that is why the project aims to “re-adapt those who guide them along the way, adapting them to all the motivations for this personal journey, whether it is carried out individually, academically or even professional”, advances Paula Silva.
