ENCHANTED STAIR: LIVRARIA LELLO CELEBRATES WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY

2023-06-5
On World Children's Day we decided to honor the date in an innovative way. Inspired by the creativity of the little ones, the Most Beautiful Bookshop in the World challenged the little artists to decorate its most emblematic element, the staircase.

World Children's Day was celebrated for the first time in 1950 at the initiative of the United Nations, with the aim of highlighting the various problems associated with children at that time. It was from this date that Member States recognized that all children, regardless of race, color, religion, social origin, country of origin, would have the right to affection, adequate food, medical care, free education, protection against all forms of exploitation and to grow in a climate of peace and fraternity. This day was officially marked by the UN on November 20, the date on which, in 1959, the Rights of the Child were approved by the UN General Assembly.

So, in order to make this day even more special, Livraria Lello got in touch with one of the schools in its parish, EB da Constitution, which brought together children, aged between 3 and 9 years old, and challenged them to decorate the staircase with characters from children's stories.

On June 1st, the staircase takes on another color by the hands of these little artists.
